A Milwaukee man faces a felony charge after police say he led police on a chase with a stolen car, court documents say.
Mackenzie D. Burse, 16 of Milwaukee, was charged July 25 with one felony count of attempting to flee or elude a traffic officer.
While on routine patrol on March 17, a Wauwatosa officer spotted a Honda Accord traveling southbound in the 1300 block of West Glenview Avenue. A scan of the license plate through police records revealed the car was stolen the day before, according to the criminal complaint.

The officer followed the car as it stopped in a parking lot and one person exited. The stolen car then left and quickly accelerated westbound on Dana Court to Glenview Avenue. That’s when the officer activated sirens and emergency lights.
The vehicle continued northbound on Glenview Avenue and then failed to stop at the red traffic light at Wisconsin Avenue and had to drive around other vehicles on the road, court documents say.Â

Another officer out on patrol observed the Accord pass him and also activated his emergency lights and sirens. The pursuit reached speeds of 90 to 100 MPH on Glenview Avenue. The car finally stopped in a parking lot on Harwood Avenue, and the driver, Burse, and two other passengers fled from it, court documents say.
Officers followed Burse on foot and apprehended him in a parking lot at Wauwatosa Avenue and Blanchard Street, court documents show.
The police pursuit stretched 1.5 miles.
Burse could face up to three years and six months imprisonment, or $10,000 in fines, or both, if convicted.
Burse’s initial court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 2. He is currently out-of-custody.Â
