New Program Encourages Wauwatosa Residents To Get Vaccinated

The Wauwatosa Health Department saw an increase in COVID-19 vaccinations thanks to new initiative.

WAUWATOSA, WI —The Wauwatosa Health Department unveiled a new initiative, which includes television, radio, social media and digital advertisements, to prompt residents to get the COVID-19 vaccine, the health department said.

Last year, thanks to the marketing campaign, the city had a 46% increase within two months for the seven-day vaccination average. The city's vaccination rate for adults also increased to 76.3% by the end of summer 2021, the health department said.

“We did a similar initiative last year, and we saw a lot of success with it in our residents getting vaccinated,” said Laura Stephens, Health Officer and Director of the City of Wauwatosa Health Department. “This effort is focused on adult residents staying up to date on their vaccination by getting a booster shot, as well as encouraging them to get their children vaccinated.”
