Shannon Izquierdo Named New Principal At Tosa's Madison Elementary

Madison Elementary School's new principal steps into the role with experience in the U.S. Peace Corps and a master's from Marquette.

WAUWATOSA, WI — The Wauwatosa School District on Monday named Shannon Izquierdo as the new principal at Madison Elementary School.

Izquierdo will move into her new position on July 1, according to a news release from the district. Her appointment came after a screening and interview process that sought to gather opinions from families and staff. The final candidates also participated in interviews with staff, families and students before Superintendent Demond Means recommended Izquierdo for the position.

Besides her over 15 years of experience as a classroom teacher and associate principal in the region, Izquierdo brings experience as a specialist for the U.S. Peace Corps to her new role of principal. She is pursuing a doctorate at Marquette University and holds a bachelor's from Aquinas College and a master's from Marquette, according to the district news release.

“I am excited to join the community of learners at Madison Elementary," Izquierdo said in the release. "I look forward to working with the students, staff and community to continue the important work of fostering positive learning environments where all students can learn and excel at high levels. I am passionate about creating equitable systems and outcomes for all students by establishing a high performing culture and climate for our school community.
