CHEYENNE, WY — A high-wind warning and hazardous weather outlook has been issued in the Cheyenne area with winds of up to 65 mph forecasted that could tip over large vehicles, as well as several inches of snow.

A high wind warning remains in effect from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday, the National Weather Service said. The region could see winds of 35 to 45 mph and gusts of up to 65 mph for Goshen and Laramie counties, including Cheyenne, Torrington and Pine Bluffs. The winds could affect transportation.

"Strong cross winds will be hazardous to light weight and high profile vehicles, including campers and tractor trailers," the weather service said. "There will be a high risk for vehicle blow overs."

Property damage is also possible.

The weather service said dangerous weather is possible for the following counties: Dawes, Box Butte, Scotts Bluff, Banner, Morrill, Kimball, Cheyenne, Sioux, Converse, Niobrara, Laramie Range, Platte and Goshen.

"This hazardous weather outlook is for portions of panhandle Nebraska...east central Wyoming and southeast Wyoming," the weather service said.

Widespread strong winds Monday will result in dangerous travel conditions for light, high profile vehicles across all of southeast Wyoming and the western Nebraska panhandle.

Snow is then expected to begin falling Tuesday afternoon, with a "prolonged period" of light- to moderate-snow expected for all areas along and east of the Laramie Range. Snow will continue to fall through Wednesday.

"Several inches of accumulation will be possible with potential for hazardous travel conditions," the weather service said.
