📰 News we're reading

1. Police blotter 12-26-25 (wyomingnews.com) — Recent arrests by the Cheyenne Police Department and Laramie County deputies include charges ranging from public intoxication and resisting arrest to aggravated assault and felony failure to appear. All incidents occurred locally this week across Cheyenne streets, the county jail, and nearby highways, giving residents a snapshot of current law enforcement activity.

2. East grads Schlabs, Dierks honored by RMAC for academics (wyomingnews.com) — Two Cheyenne East High School graduates are earning major academic recognition in college football. Wide receiver Garet Schlabs, now at Chadron State, made the RMAC All-Academic first team with a 4.0 GPA, while linebacker Kolbe Dierks at Black Hills State landed on the conference honor roll for his classroom work.

3. OTTBs And Their Hooves Flourishing In Wyoming's Rugged Terrain (paulickreport.com) — A Cheyenne-based ranch is quietly becoming a haven for retired racehorses, using Wyoming’s high plains terrain to rebuild their hooves and health without heavy shoeing or stalling. Kate Anderson’s Center for Racehorse Retraining, now centered between Cheyenne and Chugwater, focuses on turnout, careful trimming, and research partnerships to prove Thoroughbreds can thrive barefoot and find new careers or peaceful retirement.

4. Kay F. (Gentilini) Underwood (wyodaily.com) — Cheyenne readers are remembering Kay (Gentilini) Underwood, who spent years here cooking at Wyatt’s Café, Kary Jr. High, and the VA Hospital before retiring. Born in Nebraska and later living across Wyoming and Montana, she raised six children and cherished big family gatherings, card games, and cooking. A memorial service is planned January 17, 2026, in Worland.
