Here are the top three stories in Birmingham today:

  1. The 2022 World Games are approaching quickly, and the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport (BHM) is working hard to prepare for the influx of visitors to Birmingham this summer. In an interview with WVTM13, Birmingham Airport Authority CEO Ronald Mathieu discussed some of the improvements currently being made at the airport, including improved cell service, updated Wi-Fi, and replacing the seats at each terminal with state-of-the-art "charging station" seats. (WVTM13 Birmingham)
  2. On Sunday afternoon, Birmingham firefighters responded to a residence in the 600 block of 26th Street SW to investigate a dryer fire. Officials said heavy black smoke was coming from the residence when they arrived. The home's occupants safely evacuated the home and no injuries were reported. The official cause of the fire is still under investigation. (WBRC)
  3. For the third year in a row, the Cahaba Brewing Company's "Pour Us Another" event series returned this weekend to highlight the work of women in the craft beer industry. Over 15 women-owned food trucks and vendors participated in yesterday's event, including Wild Honey Flower Truck, Mattie’s Garden urban farm, and Trvl Love Koffee. Guests also enjoyed live music, and a special "Women in Craft Beer" panel. (AL.com)
