Here are the top three stories in Birmingham today:
- On Friday night, WWE wrestler Ettore "Big E" Ewen broke his neck during a show here in Birmingham. Ewen is currently recovering at UAB Hospital and reportedly reassured his fans, saying, "I'm gonna be alright." In his most recent video message, he detailed the extent of his injury and praised the care he's received at UAB. (AL.com)
- Over the past few weekends, dozens of Birmingham residents have marched throughout the city to support Ukraine. Marching from Linn Park to Kelly Ingram Park, attendees wore blue and yellow to show solidarity for the country in crisis. Some of the marchers were former Ukraine residents. (WVTM13 Birmingham)
- Jefferson County and Birmingham city officials have received over $359 million in federal funds over the course of the pandemic, with more money scheduled to arrive this spring. The funds have gone to various projects, with most going to housing and infrastructure. Other domains that have received funding include small businesses, public safety, and healthcare.
