Here are the top three stories in Birmingham today:

  1. A police chase that began in Vestavia ended in an arrest at Birmingham’s “Malfunction Junction.” A driver led police on a chase to the I-65/59 junction when they decided to stop the pursuit, according to Lt. Michael Keller of the Vestavia Police Department. The suspect ended up wrecking their car just past the junction at the 16th Street North exit, allowing police to capture one suspect at the scene. Another suspect fled the area. (WIAT - CBS42.com)
  2. Garth Brooks will be coming to Birmingham this summer. On Jun. 4, Brooks will perform his last major concert in Alabama at Protective Stadium. Tickets for the performance, which will be the only Alabama/Georgia/Mississippi stadium tour appearance, go on sale on Apr. 8. (95.3 The Bear)
  3. On Tuesday, Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin announced an incentive package to bring a Food Giant grocery store to a "food desert." The new grocery store, expected to open by Dec. 1, will be located in the 2200 block of Bessemer Road in a 22,000-square-feet building that once housed a Winn-Dixie supermarket in Five Points West. The city is offering $640,000 in incentives to Mitchell Retail Properties, plus a 10-year revenue-sharing plan of 50 percent of sales taxes up to $1 million. (Al.com)
