Here are the top three stories in Birmingham today:
- A new mountain bike park is headed to Birmingham, thanks to a public-private partnership. The Red Mountain Greenway and Recreational Area Commission has entered into an agreement with RideBHM to build and operate the park, to be located adjacent to Red Mountain Park. RideBHM's Phase I product will offer a range of trails and amenities for mountain bikers of all experience levels. (Yellowhammer News)
- The survivor of the 1963 bombing of a Birmingham church spoke during the Women of Color Nebraska Caucus' Fannie Lou Hamer Legacy Award Luncheon on Saturday. The luncheon in Omaha recognizes leaders for their efforts in advancing social justice and civil rights. Sarah Collins Rudolph, who was just 12 years old at the time, shared her story as the "fifth little girl" who narrowly survived the Ku Klux Klan bombing that killed four children. (Omaha World-Herald)
- Police have charged a suspect in the Feb. 26 shooting at Tru-Riders Motorcycle Club that killed 38-year-old Navari Deon Jones. 44-year-old Ernando Daron Dorsey is charged with murder in the Birmingham shooting, as well as aggravated assault and third-degree domestic violence assault. (AL.com)
