Here are the top three stories today in Birmingham:
- Birmingham city employees could soon see a pay raise, thanks to a recommendation by Mayor Randall Woodfin. According to an announcement on Friday, Mayor Woodfin is recommending a five percent employee pay raise, plus five percent merit raises and longevity pay for the new fiscal year that starts in July. In addition to the raises, the mayor is recommending the city commit to covering the cost of a nine percent increase in health insurance benefits for employees. (WIAT - CBS42.com)
- Looking for a new home in the Birmingham area? Check out this week's real estate roundup to see available properties nearby. There are lots of homes on the market, including a newly listed four-bedroom, two-bathroom home in Adamsville and a bank-owned two-bedroom, one-bathroom in Bessemer. (Birmingham Patch)
- A shooting victim showed up at the Birmingham Fire Station on Tuesday morning. Just before 8:30 a.m., the victim showed up with injuries at Fire Station 16; the extent of their injuries has not been determined. An investigation is underway and so far, police say no arrests have been made. (WBRC)
