Here are the top three stories today in Birmingham:

  1. One person was shot in a reported altercation at an apartment complex in Birmingham on Wednesday. Police responded around noon to a call of a person shot at 6648 Division Ave. at East Park Place Apartments and found a person suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was hospitalized and succumbed to their injuries. A person of interest has been detained amid the investigation. (WBRC)
  2. Secret Stages Music Discovery Festival has announced it will not return to Birmingham in 2022. The two-day festival began in 2011 and has previously featured over 50 bands and musicians a year, performing on stages across Birmingham during the first weekend of August. According to organizer Jon Poor, the pandemic took its toll on Secret Stages, which was run by volunteers and was "a passion project with little to no financial reward." (AL.com)
  3. Birmingham Fire Rescue crews cleaned up a fuel leak from an underground pipe on Wednesday. Hazmat crews were on the scene at 2515 28th St. SW in southwest Birmingham and were able to contain the leak, according to BFRS. No injuries were reported and there is no danger to the public. (WBRC)
