Here are the top three stories in Birmingham today:

  1. A teenager was fatally shot in Birmingham's East Lake neighborhood on Saturday afternoon. According to the Birmingham Police Department, people in two vehicles were exchanging shots when one struck 13-year-old Jaylon Palmore in the stomach and another struck an adult in the arm. Palmore was later pronounced dead at Children's of Alabama; the adult was taken to UAB Hospital and is expected to recover. (Birmingham Patch)
  2. A Birmingham teenager will soon represent the state in Miss America's Outstanding Teen competition. 16-year-old Hailey Adams took home the crown in Miss Alabama's Outstanding Teen competition on Sunday, beating out 38 other contestants for the title. (AL.com)
  3. If you're tired of braving U.S. 280 traffic to get your groceries, Kroger's new delivery service might interest you. On Friday, March 4, The Kroger Co. announced its plans to launch an e-commerce grocery delivery service here in Birmingham, expected to become operational later this year. The company plans to hire 161 new employees for the service. (Bham Now)
