Here are the top three stories today in Birmingham:

  1. Fire crews responded to a house fire in Birmingham on Monday night. Birmingham Fire and Rescue crews arrived at 1325 5th Place NW to find heavy fire and smoke showing from the home. According to the department, all the occupants who were inside the home made it out. (Alabama's News Leader)
  2. Birmingham Uber riders and Uber Eats customers will soon see a temporary gas surcharge. For Uber riders, a surcharge of 55 cents per ride will support drivers who are feeling the pain at the pump. 3. Mothers who have been selected for Birmingham’s guaranteed income program are being notified. More than 8,000 mothers applied for the Embrace Mothers program, which will provide 110 Birmingham residents $375 a month for a 12-month period via a random drawing by a third party, with no strings attached. Those who are selected will be reached via the phone number or email address submitted on their application. (Alabama Political Reporter)
