- Job seekers should check out this list of new jobs available in the Birmingham area! Positions are available in industries such as customer service, truck driving, roofing, and more. Roles range from entry-level sales representatives to higher-level national account manager positions. (Birmingham Patch)
- No injuries have been reported in a wildfire that has charred about 450 acres of woods southeast of Birmingham. Fire officials are warning residents that smoke and smoldering debris will continue for several days from the blaze, which began near a residential area on Double Oak Mountain on Saturday afternoon. The fire endangered nearly a dozen homes; however, crews from area fire departments and the Alabama Forestry Commission worked to control it. (wvua23.com)
- The Community Food Bank of Central Alabama is receiving less food from the USDA due to a significant drop in donations over the past few years. While the Community Food Bank got more than 50 percent of its food from the USDA in 2020, it only received 38 percent from them in 2021. Those interested in donating can give items such as peanut butter, rice, beans, canned vegetables, and more. Monetary donations are also accepted here. (WBRC)
