Longtime Birmingham Nonprofit Leader Stepping Down
One of the Birmingham area's most active promoter of the arts community has decided to step down as leader of Create Birmingham.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — A longtime leader in Birmingham's nonprofit sector is stepping down. Buddy Palmer, CEO of Create Birmingham for the last 13 years, announced he will retire later this year.
Create Birmingham, formed in 2004 as the Cultural Alliance of Greater Birmingham, is dedicated to the economic development of Birmingham’s creative industries, including performing arts, visual arts and crafts, culture and heritage, media and film, design and culinary arts.
"It has been my privilege to work with Birmingham’s creative community to create more equitable access to opportunities and remove some of the traditional barriers to success," Palmer said in a release. "Create Birmingham today is the result of the collective efforts of a dedicated board, a talented staff, our generous donors, and the innovative constituents who inspire us to think creatively every day."
