School Closings, Delays Wednesday, Feb. 17: Winter Weather Update
Schools throughout the Birmingham metro closed or delayed start Tuesday, and some are also taking action for Wednesday.
BIRMINGHAM, AL — Snow and ice Monday night and Tuesday morning caused most school systems in the Birmingham metro to close Tuesday, and as temperatures failed to top freezing Tuesday, some schools are taking similar actions for Wednesday.
The schools starting late or closing Wednesday, Feb. 17 (this list will be updated as soon as schools in the area provide information):
Alabaster City Schools: Delayed 2 hours Feb. 17

Birmingham City Schools: Delayed until 10 a.m. Feb. 17
Blount County Schools: Delayed 2 hours Feb. 17

Hoover City Schools: Delayed 2 hours, Feb. 17
i3 Academy: All classes virtual Feb. 17
Jefferson County Schools: All classes virtual Feb. 17, and will begin at 9:30 a.m.
Leeds City Schools: Delayed 2 hours Feb. 17
Madison County Schools: Closed Feb. 17
Pelham City Schools: Delayed 2 hours Feb. 17
St. Clair County Schools: Delayed 2 hours Feb. 17
