Here are the top three stories in Birmingham today:
- Starting tomorrow morning, the New South Softball League in Birmingham will get to work cleaning up and repairing its home base: George Ward Park. With the help of sponsors, the league raised $10,000 for the park improvement project, which will include power washing, grass seed planting, and general cleanup. Leaders with the league are also working with the City of Birmingham on securing additional improvements, such as new field lights. (Alabama's News Leader)
- Much of Alabama, including the Birmingham metro area, is at risk of experiencing severe storms this Monday. According to meteorologist James Spann, the main window for the storms will take place between 2:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. The most severe of the storms could potentially produce hail, strong straight-line winds, and even a few tornadoes. - If you've ever wanted to own a historic home in Birmingham, now's your chance! A four-bedroom home in Forest Park, built by Hugo Black in 1935, will hit the market on Mar. 15 for $825,000. The property includes both the main house and a newly renovated carriage house. (Birmingham Patch)
