Photo Credit: Jamie SchorJoin the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Abroms-Engel Institute for Visual Arts for a tour of four spring exhibitions, followed by a film screening and discussion, at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 10.

The movie is selected by spring 2022 exhibiting artist Lily Reeves, and the film discussion will be moderated by Gareth Jones, director of the Office of Service Learning and Undergraduate Research. Jones teaches film studies classes in the UAB Honors College and is host of “Sleep in Cinema,” a show on Substrate Radio.

Reeves, of Birmingham, uses light, space, sculpture, immersive installation and performance to create spiritual chasms in contemporary culture while encouraging emotional and physical well-being through a holistic lens of personal, societal and emotional healing.

There have been numerous films titled “The Fall,” says John Fields, The Lydia Cheney and Jim Sokol Endowed Director of AEIVA; but AEIVA is specifically screening the 2006 Tarsem Singh film.

“To our knowledge you cannot currently stream or rent this film anywhere at the moment (at least not easily), so it’s pretty cool that we’re getting to screen it,” Fields said. “It’s a great film.”

The event is in-person and will be open to public. Attendees will be treated to a tour of the exhibition at AEIVA starting at 5:30 p.m. Spaces are limited, and registration is required. To take part in this exciting art evening, register online. Explore more UAB events using the Campus Calendar.
