117 Pounds Of Marijuana Confiscated During Traffic Stop on I-22
Members of Jefferson County's Highway Safety Unit which includes both Hoover PD officers and Jefferson Co. deputies carry out drug bust.

HOOVER, AL— Members of Jefferson County’s Highway Safety Unit, comprised of officers and deputies from the Hoover Police Department and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, respectively, discovered 117 pounds of marijuana during a routine traffic stop around 10:30pm Monday night. Two cars speeding along I-22 were pulled over around mile marker 88 where officers conducted a vehicle search.
The drivers were taken to the Jefferson County Jail and given official charges of Trafficking Marijuana. Each vehicle contained two duffel bags full of marijuana in the trunk. Law Enforcement estimates the contents have a street value around $117,000.
