  1. Hoover and Birmingham have been chosen as the hosts for the 2023 Hartford Nationals, organized by Move United, a leader in community-based sports for individuals with disabilities. The championship, running from Jul. 8-15, will feature various sports such as archery, wheelchair tennis, and swimming. Hoover will host both the 2023 and 2024 championships, accommodating over 400 athletes and coaches with the support of local organizations like The Lakeshore Foundation and the Birmingham Convention and Visitors Bureau.   2. Several new businesses are set to open their doors in the local area, including a vegan cafe and a wing spot. Hero Doughnuts & Buns has opened its fourth location in the state, located at Stadium Trace Village in Hoover, offering a tempting selection of doughnuts, burgers, salads, and more.
