Today, the Hoover Fire Department and Hoover Police Department will go head-to-head in the "Battle of the Badges" blood drive at Hoover City Hall, aiming to recruit the most donors from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Donors will receive a limited-edition Hoover Boots vs Badges t-shirt, a $10 e-gift card, and the opportunity to vote for their favorite agency. The founders of Taco Mama, Will Haver and Leigh Haver, will be sharing their insights on growing a small business at the Hoover Small Business Alliance's networking breakfast at Aldridge Gardens. The event will take place on Jun. 21 at 8:00 a.m., and attendees can enjoy breakfast provided by Biscuit Belly. Three individuals in their early 20s, identified as Josiah Louis Phillips, Anna Catherine Meyers, and Ashley Nicole Michelle Wyatt, tragically lost their lives in an overnight car crash on Blackie Curren Road in Western Jefferson County. The driver and two passengers were pronounced dead at the scene, while another passenger sustained injuries and was taken to UAB Hospital. Investigations are currently underway to determine the cause of the accident. (WBRC 6 News)
