Bucs Take Over Top Spot In 7A Football Poll
Hoover's win over Thompson Friday has the Bucs in familiar territory as the no. 1 team in 7A.
HOOVER, AL — Hoover's dramatic win over previously unbeaten Thompson has the Bucs in a familiar position sitting atop the Alabama Sports Writers Association's Class 7A rankings.
Hoover signal-caller Bennett Meredith led the Bucs on an 82-yard drive in the final two minutes, ending with a touchdown pass to Jabari Gaines with 14 seconds left in the game. The score secured a 24-21 win for Hoover, and snapped a 27-game winning streak held by Thompson.
Hoover finishes the regular season with a 10-0 record, and will await playoff bracket announcements from the Alabama High School Athletic Association.
