Here are the top three stories in Hoover today:
- Hoover’s Reniya Kelly has been named Miss Basketball by the Alabama Sports Writers Association. She helped lead Hoover to a 35-1 record and its third straight Class 7A Title. The University of North Carolina commit holds the school's record for most points scored in a career with 2,727. (AL.com)
- A few Hoover senior citizens were involved in a cryptocurrency scam. The suspects made calls to their targets and reported that there were issues with their bank accounts. Police located one victim depositing $20,000 into a Bitcoin machine as she was told to do so by the scammers. The suspects are believed to be located overseas. (WBMA)
- Hoover Schools Superintendent Dee Fowler suggested to the school board that they begin the process of finding his replacement. Fowler has one year left on his three-year contract after coming out of retirement in 2020. The superintendent said he plans to help facilitate a smooth transition. (Hoover Sun)

- Kevin Pughsley of Berry Middle School has been selected as a "Sweet 16" finalist for the Alabama 2023 Teacher of the Year. The sixth-grade earth science teacher has been at the school for six years and has a teaching career than spans 16 years. (Hoover City Schools via Facebook)
- Police are seeking information on a pair of suspected shoplifters that reportedly stole more than $4,100 worth of merchandise. They hit a local unnamed business where they used purses and their bodies to conceal the items. (Hoover (AL) Police Department via Facebook)
- The Hoover Air Force had a successful showing at the Air Force JROTC Drill National Championships. The event was held in Dayton, Ohio where the Competition Color Guard team placed third and the Competition Unarmed Regulation Drill Team took sixth place in the country. (Alabama's News Leader)
