- Former Hoover High School and University of Alabama standout Marlon Humphrey had a few words for his Baltimore Ravens as they completed their offseason camp. Humphrey expressed to the team the need to take this small break between this and next season to mentally reset and come back even more dedicated to the game. In his sixth season in the league, Humphrey has not only asserted himself as one of the best at his position but also as a leader for his team. (AL.com)
- Starting in 2025, construction will begin on I-459 making a new Exit 9, in hopes of helping solve traffic issues between the current Exit 9 and 10. With the rapid growth in the city of Hoover and the surrounding towns, the increase in commuters is to be expected; Exit 10 at John Hawkins Parkway is taking a hit with congestion backing up a mile or more on most days. The cost of the new exit construction is expected to be around $120 million, with the City of Hoover picking up $61 million; if all goes as planned, the exit will be completed in 2027. (Hoover Sun)
- This past Thursday, the NFL Players Association's Rising Stars list — a roundup of rookies and veterans expected to have a major impact on retail sales with a chance to break the NFLPA's Top 50 Player Sales — was released. The state of Alabama was represented strongly on this list: former University of Alabama quarterback and last year's number one overall pick Bryce Young was ranked third for rookies, and his former teammate Will Anderson was sixth on the list. For the veteran's side of the list, former Hoover High School star George Pickens was fifth on the list and former Crimson Tide Patrick Surtain was seventh to represent Alabama. (AL.com)
