- The Hoover City Schools District has been awarded the prestigious 2023 National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA) Award of Excellence for its remarkable Teacher of the Year Highlight video. The award was received in the category of Video Produced In House, and it represents the highest recognition in the contest. Additionally, the district earned an NSPRA Honorable Mention in the category of Electronic Newsletter for an External Audience, further acknowledging its outstanding work in communication and digital media. - Hoover and Birmingham have been chosen as hosts for the 66th annual Hartford Nationals, the largest multi-sport event for athletes with disabilities. This weeklong competition, taking place from Jul. 8-14, will bring together 400 athletes and coaches from across the country to participate in various sports including archery, powerlifting, triathlon, shooting, and swimming. The Lakeshore Foundation, one of the event's partners, is actively seeking volunteers, with a minimum age requirement of 16, to assist in different sporting events and ensure the smooth running of the competition. - The Hoover Police Department is seeking the assistance of the public in identifying an individual wanted for questioning regarding a felony shoplifting incident at a local business. The person allegedly concealed merchandise worth over $675 and left without attempting to pay. If you have any information, please contact Det.
