Hoover City Council Seeks Opinion On Earlier Sunday Alcohol Sales
The Hoover City Council will seek a state attorney general's opinion on how the city can allow earlier Sunday alcohol sales.

HOOVER, AL - The Hoover City Council will seek a state attorney general’s opinion on how the city can allow earlier Sunday alcohol sales.
In Jefferson and Shelby counties, restaurants and bars cannot sell alcoholic beverages until noon on Sundays. Under a law approved by the Alabama Legislature last year, cities and counties can move up the time for alcohol sales to 10 a.m.
Hoover City Councilman John Lyda said he favors the earlier hours, but the new state law does not outline what cities and counties must do to approve the changes, the Hoover Sun reported. City Council members approved a resolution asking the attorney general if the city can merely pass an ordinance or if the city must hold an election.
