HOOVER, AL — Almost a month after severe flash flooding in Hoover claimed two lives and caused significant property damage, the city's engineers are busy assessing the flooding issues. In fact they are so busy that the Hoover City Council agreed to hire private engineers to help, according to the Hoover Sun.

The paper reported that although city officials have visited nearly 70 locations where flood damage was reported, they still have hundreds more to go, according to city administrator Allan Rice.

The city will pay roughly $310,000 to five private engineering firms to allow additional assessments to get done more quickly, Rice said, according to the Sun.
