Hoover Residents Part of Champion JSU Marching Band

Jacksonville State's marching band was awarded the top prize in college bands, the prestigious Sudler Trophy.

JACKSONVILLE, AL — Jacksonville State University's marching band, The Marching Southerners, has won the top prize for college bands — the prestigious Sudler Trophy from the John Phillip Sousa Foundation.

Several Hoover residents are members of the JSU band, including:

  • Cassidy Norton, Mellophone section.
  • Nolan Rose, Tenor Sax section.
  • Robert Pierce, Tenor Sax section.
  • Isaiah Amos, Trumpet section.
  • Omie Crockett, Alto Sax section.
  • Shay Haynes, Percussion section.

The Marching Southerners have also been invited to represent the US in Normandy, France, at the 80th anniversary of D-Day in June 2024.
