Here are the top three stories in Hoover today:
- Alberto Pegan, 49, of Hoover, lost his life Friday morning in a single-car crash nearby on Highway 52 East in Helena. The Helena Police Department reported that Pegan's vehicle left the roadway at Dearing Downs Drive and caught fire, thus taking his life. Helena's police department is being assisted by the Pelham Police Department as well as the Shelby County Traffic Homicide team to investigate the accident. (Alabama's News Leader)
- In its two years of existence, Megan's Foundation has distributed over $50,000 to schools for healthy relationship programs to prevent violence in relationships. Megan's Foundation was started by former Hoover officer Megan Montgomery's family after her husband pleaded guilty to Megan's murder back in April 2021. The foundation focuses on the prevention of domestic violence and presents free educational opportunities and resources to the community. (Hoover Sun)
- Hoover is looking to see some elite baseball in May, with five of the current six top teams in the nation coming to the 2023 SEC Baseball Tournament. The city of Hoover will be hosting fun events surrounding the tournament, such as the FanFest experience next door to the stadium, providing a bunch of non-baseball entertainment for all to enjoy. New hospitality packages will be featured this year as well as a youth tournament nearby with dozens of teams from 11 states with SEC teams to bring more visitors to Hoover. The city is currently looking for volunteers to help at the Hoover Met Complex with ticket sales and other tasks during the tournament. (Hoover Sun)

Felony warrants have been issued for these three individuals and they are all wanted at large; if you know their whereabouts please contact the authorities. (Hoover (AL) Police Department via Facebook)
- This past Wednesday, the Hoover 911 Telecommunications Center had a special visitor in the Chief's Office to take some stress off of the workers. Willow, the center's emotional support dog, came to visit the staff, greet visitors at the front, and of course get some hard work done to assist the team. - The nearby Birmingham Swim League recognized five of its senior swimmers who will be continuing their swimming careers in college next year. These seniors were celebrated in a ceremony at the Heatherwood Golf and Country Club earlier in the week. (Hoover Sun via Facebook)
