  1. On Saturday, Feb. 25, Alabama’s Republican Party Executive Committee held its biannual Winter Meeting in Birmingham. The 440-member committee meets twice a year to elect new officials that will represent the state in the Presidential Primary set for March 2024. Chairman John Wahl was elected into a second term and Joan Reynolds earned Vice Chairman over Pat Wilson, who previously represented the fourth and fifth congressional districts on the steering committee.   2. Junior linebacker Bradley Shaw of Hoover High School confirmed visits to the top two college football programs in Alabama. Shaw is rated as a four-star recruit and has received offers from more than 20 universities, including Alabama State, Stanford, and Notre Dame. He plans to schedule additional college visits this upcoming summer in hopes of an early fall decision prior to his senior year. (Touchdown Alabama Magazine)
  3. Over 800 major retailers, including Bed, Bath, & Beyond, Walmart, and Macy’s, are shutting down stores in Alabama and across the country throughout 2023. Here in Hoover, the Tuesday Morning on Riverchase Promenade is set to shutter this year.
