1. A UAB receiver shares his story of perseverance and determination after losing both parents at a young age. In 2011, at eight years old, Connor Harby lost his mother in a car accident and his father to cancer nearly four years later. He and his siblings moved in with their aunt and uncle to Hoover, where Harby joined the football team — eventually leading him to UAB Football. (1819 News)
2. A county in the Birmingham-Hoover metro area made the top five fastest-growing counties in Alabama. In 2022, Alabama grew faster than the rest of the nation, with most of the state’s suburbs surrounding its biggest cities skyrocketing. Chilton County, the southern tip of the Birmingham-Hoover Metro Area, grew by 1.4 percent, making it into the top five for the first time since 2010. (AL.com)
