  1. An investigation is taking place in Ragland, Al, of a double homicide and arrest related to a double murder that occurred in Birmingham the previous night. Police responded to a disturbance call around midnight in Ragland, where they found Amber L. Manning shot dead in the driveway and Timothy R. Davidson inside the home injured. He was airlifted to the UAB Hospital, where he also died from a gunshot wound. Daniel P. Watson was taken into custody after approaching a Leeds officer early Tuesday morning, claiming he shot these two individuals as well as two others in Birmingham. (wvtm13.com)
  2. The UAB Blazers women's tennis team will be hosting two matches this weekend at the Hoover Met, including nationally ranked Florida State. This will be the first competition for the Blazers after returning home from spring break. UAB has a 7-6 record at this point in the season. UAB will be competing in all of their home contest at the Hoover Met, and admission to these matches is always free. (UAB Athletics)
  3. The Circle of Love Foundation will be hosting its second annual 5k fundraiser today, 9 a.m. at Veterans Park to help children receive book bags, school supplies, and other necessities throughout central Alabama. The 5k welcomes all those interested in participating, regardless of age or fitness level. The cost to participate in the run is $35, and every penny raised goes directly to children in need. The Circle of Love Foundation has been servicing children since 2004 through many different fundraisers and will continue to do so. (Hoover Sun)
