Here are the top three stories today in Huntsville:
- Following issues with City permitting, a new Starbucks location will finally arrive at Downtown Huntsville after permits were secured last week. Construction has begun on the Starbucks at Constellation, near the Von Braun Center. When the new Starbucks construction appeared on the Huntsville Planning Commission's docket earlier this year, members of the commission expressed concern at the potential for traffic congestion leading into downtown. - University of Alabama golfer, and Huntsville native, Nick Dunlap, scored a record-setting round of 12-under par 60, which led the Crimson Tide to a 36-hole clubhouse lead at the Hamptons Intercollegiate competition. Dunlap is now the 18th golfer in NCAA history to record a 60 in a tournament. The Tide will now enter this final round of the competition with a four-stroke advantage at 19-under par 557. (WZDX)
- Huntsville native and Westminster Christian alum Ellie Korotky was crowned Auburn University's Homecoming Queen this week. Korotky, an AU Senior, was a member of the Westminster Christian Academy dance team in middle and high school and is currently a Captain of the AU Tiger Paws Dance Team. Korotky says she is proud to represent her hometown, serving as a role model for girls in Huntsville as she ends her undergraduate chapter and prepares for her next steps of grad school and becoming a registered dietician.
