• Landscape Management: 2025 Rewind (huntsvilleal.gov) — Huntsville’s Landscape Management and Green Team spent 2025 planting over 1,000 trees, organizing 303 cleanup events, and sweeping more than 13,000 curb miles to keep neighborhoods cleaner and greener. Volunteers collected 91 tons of trash and helped expand programs in schools, parks, and public spaces. Looking to 2026, the City plans a Veterans Memorial Tree Grove and a new City Arboretum.
   

• 30 new housing units coming to Huntsville: ‘Good news' (al.com) — Thirty new affordable homes are planned for north Huntsville, after the city awarded a $650,000 grant to help build the Parkside Cottages community on Venona Avenue. Nonprofit developer Neighborhood Concepts aims to leverage federal tax credits for this $13 million project, which city leaders say is part of a broader push to expand affordable housing without displacing longtime residents.
