Organizer Will Freeman argues Huntsville leaders must be more transparent about how location data is stored and used, while Huntsville Police maintain the cameras reduce crime and aren’t designed to track individuals’ movements.

• Members of Oakwood University Church spread holiday cheer through kids' shoe giveaway (waff.com) — Oakwood University Church members spent Saturday in Huntsville giving away hundreds of new shoes to kids during their annual Kicks 4 Kids event. Volunteers also fanned out across the city with Starbucks gift cards and other small acts of kindness, turning one day into a broad show of holiday generosity for local families.

• Emmy's first Christmas: A heart healed in Huntsville (waff.com) — A Huntsville toddler named Emmy is celebrating her first Christmas at home after specialists at Huntsville Hospital’s Heart Center used an echocardiogram to find and monitor a small hole in her heart until it healed. The clinic has already treated nearly 1,900 children and is now fundraising for a second, more advanced echo machine to expand pediatric heart services for local families.
