- At the Huntsville City Council meeting on Thursday, Sep. 14, Mayor Tommy Battle introduced a proposed budget for fiscal year 2024. According to Battle, the budget focuses on services that improve residents' quality of life, such as public transit, garbage collection, and road upgrades. The proposed budget also includes funds to expand Big Spring Park and Ditto Landing, as well as funding to hire more police personnel. The City Council is set to vote on the proposed budget at its meeting on Thursday, Sep. 28. (City of Huntsville, Alabama - Government via Facebook)
- Thanks to a vote by the Huntsville City Council, Huntsville's Community Development Office has been approved to administer funding and grants to seven organizations in the city. The funding is made available through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Among the organizations to receive financial support are the Alabama Non-Violent Offenders Organization, the Boys and Girls Club of North Alabama, and Harris Home for Children.
