Here are the top three stories in Huntsville today:

  1. According to the school's online crime log, the University of Alabama at Huntsville has had three instances of rape reported this semester, all allegedly taking place at the on-campus dorms. In a statement to WAAY 31, the school said it is taking these reports seriously. The school cannot comment on individual cases, but it responds to rape allegations through the campus police department, Title IX office, and Division of Student Affairs. (WAAY)
  2. Huntsville Utilities is warning residents about a new scam. A man is reportedly posing as an employee of the company and then going door-to-door saying he is collecting payments. According to Huntsville Utilities, the man may be dressed in an orange-and-yellow vest and driving a black Ford Taurus. The utility company said they are not associated with this man and advised residents to not give him money or account information. (WAAY)
  3. The team at WHNT News 19 is once again taking part in the Fill the Food Bank Campaign, and they're asking local residents for support. WHNT is partnering with the Food Bank of North Alabama, and this year's campaign is focused on monetary donations. With each dollar donated, the food bank can provide seven meals to families in need. Monetary donations enable the food bank to purchase discounted fresh produce and dairy products, which helps each dollar stretch a little further. Donations of non-perishable food items are also being accepted at the food bank, located at 2000 Vernon Avenue SW. (WHNT)
