Here are the top three stories today in Mobile:

  1. Commuters should know that Mobile County Public Works will temporarily close Alba Avenue in Bayou La Batre. The closure is expected only to last the day as a cross-drain repair takes place. The closure point is located between Highway 188 and Shell Belt Road, and commuters will need to take the posted detour route on Tuesday, Mar. 7. (Press Release Desk)
  2. Mobile residents should consider avoiding using Montlimar Creek for recreational purposes this week. According to Mobile's water utility, 95 gallons of wastewater overflowed into the creek on Friday. It was determined that the leak happened after a contractor failed to properly seal a manhole during a repair. Those who come in contact with wastewater should wash their hands and clothing thoroughly. (AL.com)
  3. Stay tuned for an exciting announcement from the Mobile Airport Authority this Tuesday. According to a press release, a new airline and nonstop destination are coming to the Mobile International Airport (BMF). At 10 a.m. on Tuesday, local officials and representatives of the new airline will make an announcement about the airline. Delta Airlines, American Airlines, and United Airlines currently serve Mobile residents. Be sure to check back Tuesday for the reveal! (WKRG News 5)
