A new traffic study, the I-10 bridge project, and a planned waterfront task force could open up prime riverfront land for development and make it easier for residents and visitors to enjoy the bayfront.

2. Money awarded to Mobile area agencies to help low income residents with energy bills (fox10tv.com) — Mobile-area residents struggling with power bills could soon get help, as ADECA is sending nearly $350,000 to Mobile Community Action and additional funds to the Community Action Agency of South Alabama for weatherization assistance. Low-income households, especially seniors, people with disabilities, and families with children, can contact these agencies to see if they qualify for home energy upgrades.

3. Ragin' Cajuns, Blue Hens set to clash in '68 Ventures Bowl (katc.com) — Mobile will host the ’68 Ventures Bowl on Wednesday night at Hancock Whitney Stadium, featuring Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns against the Delaware Blue Hens on ESPN. The Cajuns ride a late-season surge despite quarterback injuries, while Delaware brings one of the nation’s most dangerous passing attacks. Local fans can expect a nationally televised showcase for Mobile’s stadium and bowl atmosphere.

4. Hit-and-run victim's family seeks justice as woman recovers from critical injuries (fox10tv.com) — A Mobile woman is recovering from severe injuries after a hit-and-run on Halls Mill Road, while her family pleads for the driver to come forward. Her parents travel from Tennessee to Mobile and now Birmingham as she begins rehabilitation, facing major medical challenges and mounting expenses. Police are still seeking information as the family leans on faith and community support.

5. Alabama issues $730 million in bonds for west Alabama corridor expansion (cbs42.com) — A major highway project is moving forward that will eventually give Mobile a four-lane connection to Tuscaloosa, after Alabama issued $730 million in bonds for the West Alabama Corridor. Supporters say the expansion will boost rural economies, while Lt. Gov. Will Ainsworth criticizes the state-only funding, and Gov. Kay Ivey’s office defends the investment as a Rebuild Alabama priority.
