Here are the top three stories in Mobile today:
- On Saturday, the Mobile Fire Department was called to Yester Oaks Apartments around 7:45 p.m. A second-alarm response was called to the apartments, and occupants were evacuated as firefighters cut holes in the building to release toxic chemicals and increase airflow. The fire was under control by 9 p.m., and no one was hurt or injured. The cause of the fire is under investigation. (WKRG News 5)
- Mardi Gras preparations are underway in Mobile, and many RVs arrived on Friday near South Water Street to set up their homes for the next month. The Mardi Gras festivities are a quick walk from the park, so the RV homes have coveted spots. Over 50 people remain on the waiting list as the lot is fully booked. (Fox 10 News)
- A third suspect has been arrested in connection with the Dec. 27 shooting at a Walmart on the I-65 Service Road. Jimaurice Pierce, 19, was arrested by Mobile police over the weekend. Pierce was also out on bond for a 2019 murder. (NBC 15 WPMI)
