Here are the top three stories in Mobile today:
- Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson has taken issue with a survey conducted by a California-based lawn care referral company that ranked the city as the 32nd best place to celebrate Mardi Gras. The mayor criticized the survey on his Facebook page, highlighting Mobile's status as the home of the country's first Mardi Gras and stating that the community takes the event seriously. He went on to poke fun at the lawn care referral service, announcing his own list of "America's 10 Top Lawn Care Referral Services" and jokingly questioning the California company's knowledge of Mobile's Mardi Gras traditions. Despite the survey's ranking, the mayor proclaimed Mobile's Mardi Gras the best that exists. (NBC 15 WPMI)
- About 30 minutes away from Mobile, a car drove through the front of a liquor store in Semmes. On Tuesday, the Semmes Police Department made a Facebook post stating that a silver Jeep (with a star on the hood) drove through the front door of Ace Liquor located in the Winn-Dixie parking lot on Highway 98. The motive behind the incident is unknown at this time. Anybody who knows the car's owner is asked to call the Semmes Police Department. (WKRG News 5)
- On Monday night, a pedestrian was struck on Halls Mill Road. The victim was transported to the hospital following the incident, which happened at around 7:30 p.m. near I-65. As of the time of this writing, the victim's condition is unknown. (Fox 10 News)
