ALDOT To Resurface Stretch Of Highway 82 In Western Tuscaloosa County

ALDOT announced Tuesday it will begin resurfacing a nearly five-mile stretch of U.S. Highway 82 in western Tuscaloosa County next month.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) announced Tuesday it will begin resurfacing a nearly five-mile stretch of U.S. Highway 82 in western Tuscaloosa County next month.

ALDOT says the work is part of a project aimed at improving traffic flow and safety and will cover 4.79 miles of roadway from near Echola Road to near Buhl Cut-off Road.

Tuscaloosa's S.T. Bunn Construction Company was awarded the $5.3 million contract.

Construction is set to begin Monday, Dec. 1, and continue through late summer 2026, depending on weather conditions.

To limit morning congestion, ALDOT said lane closures will not be permitted on eastbound lanes between 6:30 and 8:30 a.m.

Motorists traveling through the area should expect delays and are urged to follow posted work-zone speed limits.
