Investigators Give Update On Fatal Shooting In Alberta City

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit on Monday gave an update following a fatal shooting in Alberta City Sunday afternoon, saying it is being considered an act of self-defense.

As Patch previously reported, Tuscaloosa Police responded to the 600 block of 30th Avenue around 4 p.m. Sunday on a report of a shooting.

Captain Jack Kennedy, commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, said one man was found wounded and later died from his injuries.

Kennedy then said Monday that the shooter remained on the scene and cooperated with investigators.

"After interviewing witnesses, processing the scene, and interviewing the shooter, issues of self defense were raised in this case," he said, before mentioning that no arrests had been made in the case.

He went on to say that the case will be presented to a grand jury, which will determine whether any charges are warranted.
