LIVINGSTON, AL — A Livingston man is dead following a two-vehicle crash Saturday evening in Sumter County.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency says Ellis Bibbs, 68, was critically injured when the 1999 Chevrolet S-10 pickup he was driving struck a 2021 Ford Expedition.

The crash occurred at about 5:30 p.m. on Alabama Highway 28 near the 11-mile marker, roughly three miles east of Livingston.

After the initial collision, ALEA said Bibbs’ vehicle left the roadway and hit a tree.

Bibbs was then taken to Baptist Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian, Mississippi, where he later died of his injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle was also transported to the hospital with injuries.

The cause of the fatal crash remains under investigation.
