2 Children Found Dead, Woman Injured In Phoenix

A man was outside of the home pleading for help when first responders arrived, police said.

PHOENIX, AZ — Two children were found dead and a woman was found with stab wounds Wednesday evening, according to Phoenix police.

The two girls, ages 4 and 9, were found dead in a bed at a home near the intersection of 13th Street and Mountain View Road, police said.

A medical examiner is set to determine the cause of their deaths, police said.

The woman suffered multiple stab wounds that police believe were self-inflicted. She was taken to a local hospital to be treated for her wounds, and as of Thursday morning she was expected to survive, according to police.

When first responders arrived at the home, a man was outside pleading for help, according to police. The man, who police say was cooperative, was detained and later released.

Phoenix police did not identify the man or the woman.

An investigation was underway.
