2 Children Shot In Phoenix: One Is Dead, One Critically Wounded
A 2-year-old girl has died and a 6-year-old boy is in critical condition at a local hospital.
PHOENIX, AZ — A 2-year-old girl is dead and a 6-year-old boy was critically wounded in a Monday morning shooting in Phoenix, police said.
Both children were taken to the hospital where the girl was pronounced dead, according to police.
The children's mother was also taken to the hospital for an injury that police said was not life threatening. She was then detained by police.

The shooting happened around 11:45 a.m. Monday near the intersection of 8th Place and Broadway Road.
The children's father was cooperating with the investigation, according to police.

Police did not release the names of any of the people involved.
Police are still investigating and are trying to find out what led up to the shooting.
