- The names of the 28-year-old man and 30-year-old woman who died in an officer involved shooting Wednesday in Phoenix were released. The Phoenix Police Department is heading the investigation into the shooting that happened on the grounds of a hotel. Officers involved in the shooting were from the Arizona Department of Public Safety and Maricopa County Adult Probation. (Phoenix Patch)
- News21 fellows, headquartered at ASU's Cronkite School of Journalism, released a report on how COVID-19 impacted people from various socioeconomic backgrounds. The fellows traveled to rural and urban communities across the country to investigate the pandemic’s impact on immigrant workers, the difficulties of virtual learning, food insecurity, unemployment, federal relief and child care. - Increases in Phoenix home values finally leveled off a bit in August, even though there was still a significant 1.75 percent increase. Typical home values in Phoenix went up 32 percent over the past year. (AZ Big Media)
- The state is offering funding to understaffed Arizona hospitals, but the money is only for a select group of hospitals that administer monoclonal antibody treatments and offer COVID-19 vaccines to patients upon their release. The effort is aimed at providing much-needed relief to hospital staff stressed by a rising number of severe cases of COVID-19. (Your Valley)
