2 Killed In Officer Involved Shooting Identified

The shooting involved an Arizona Department of Public Safety Officer and a Maricopa County Adult Probation Officer.

PHOENIX, AZ — Phoenix police have identified the two people who died in an officer-involved shooting Wednesday.

They are Jacob Hernandez, 28, and Kenzie Keyes, 30, police said.

Hernandez and Keyes both died at the scene on the grounds of a hotel near the intersection of 24th Street and Thomas Road in Phoenix, according to police.

An Arizona Department of Public Safety Officer and a Maricopa County Adult Probation Officer were involved in the shooting, police said. The officers were not injured, police said. Phoenix police are leading the ongoing investigation into the shooting.

The two officers were trying to arrest Hernandez, who police said was a fugitive, on Wednesday when he and Keyes ran from the officers.
Hernandez then shot himself in the head, police said. The woman then picked up the gun and pointed it at the officers, and the officers shot her, police said.
