PHOENIX, AZ — Communities around the Valley plan this weekend to honor the victims of the Sept. 11 2001 terrorist attacks on the 20th anniversary of the tragedy that rocked the nation.

Following are some of the events and tributes planned in the area.

Phoenix

The City of Phoenix created a tribute video to mark the 20th anniversary of 9/11. In it Mayor Kate Gallego mentions the help Phoenix first responders provided in the aftermath of the attacks. Gallego said that the program is meant to honor the men and women who lost their lives that day and is an expression of gratitude for those who have served, then and now. The video features first-person accounts of the cleanup efforts at Ground Zero from Phoenix first responders who traveled to New York City to help in the aftermath of the attacks.
