Here are the top three stories in Phoenix today:

  1. Ancient remains have been uncovered at the site of Phoenix's latest affordable housing project. City of Phoenix officials have confirmed recovering human remains and artifacts from "La Ciudad," an ancient O'odham village while working on the Harmony at the Park project. Marina Thomas, an indigenous activist from the Salt River Pima Maricopa Indian Community, hopes to keep the area preserved — or, at least, to educate prospective tenants before they sign a lease. (Arizona's Family)
  2. Tomorrow (Saturday, Dec. 3) marks the 35th Annual APS Electric Light Parade! The "Light Up The Night"-themed parade kicks off at 7 p.m. at Central and Montebello Avenues. Visit phoenix.gov for a full list of parade closures and helpful tips for attendees. (City of Phoenix, AZ USA via Facebook)
  3. A Phoenix man is accused of killing his ex-girlfriend after threatening her family, as well as kidnapping a family friend to help him find her. On Nov. 11, 22-year-old Taliyah Kizzee was fatally shot near 27th and Glendale Avenues, according to a Phoenix Police Department press release. Kizzee's ex-boyfriend, 22-year-old Montel Alexander, has been named as a person of interest in the case; witnesses reportedly told police the couple had broken up because Alexander was "controlling and physically abusive."
